Dreamscape ("we," "us," "our") is an independently developed iOS sleep-sounds app. It plays layered ambient soundscapes to help you fall asleep.
For privacy questions, and for the purposes of the EU/UK GDPR, the data controller for Dreamscape can be reached at app.dreamscape.ios@gmail.com.
We built Dreamscape to be calm and private. It has no accounts, no ads, and no cross-app or advertising tracking. Almost everything it does stays on your device. The one thing that doesn't is purchase processing, described in full below. This policy explains, in plain language, exactly what leaves your device and what doesn't.
Dreamscape saves a handful of preferences locally on your phone so the app feels the same each time you open it:
These are stored using your device's standard local storage (iOS `UserDefaults`). They never leave your phone, are never transmitted to us or anyone else, and we have no way to see them. They are deleted when you delete the app.
A few other things happen entirely on your device and are never recorded or sent anywhere:
Dreamscape is free, with an optional "Dreamscape Pro" upgrade available as weekly, monthly, or yearly subscriptions, or a one-time lifetime purchase.
When you buy or restore a purchase, that transaction is handled by Apple (the App Store) and by RevenueCat, our purchases provider. To validate purchases, restore them, and unlock your Pro access, the following is shared with RevenueCat:
We use this to process and validate purchases, prevent fraud, manage your Pro entitlement, and show the correct plans and prices. RevenueCat also uses your purchase and subscription data for its own revenue and purchase reporting in its dashboards — which is why our App Store privacy label lists Purchases under both "App Functionality" and "Analytics." We do not receive or store your payment-card details — payment is entered directly with Apple, and neither we nor RevenueCat ever see your card number.
Legal bases (EEA/UK). Where the EU/UK GDPR applies, we process this purchase data on the basis of performance of a contract (validating and delivering the purchase and your Pro entitlement) and our legitimate interests (preventing fraud and maintaining the integrity of entitlements). We do not rely on consent for this processing, so there is no consent to withdraw; you can stop all such processing by not making purchases.
Dreamscape integrates exactly one third-party service. We name it here so you know who handles your data.
We do not share any data with third-party AI services.
We want to be specific, because for a sleep app this is a genuine feature, not fine print. Dreamscape does not collect, use, or share any of the following:
Dreamscape does not track you across other apps or websites, and shares nothing with data brokers.
Requesting deletion. To request deletion of purchase data associated with your app install, email us at app.dreamscape.ios@gmail.com; we will action it with RevenueCat, except where retention is legally required (for example, for tax, accounting, or fraud-prevention purposes). You can also clear your local on-device settings at any time by deleting the app. See "Your privacy rights" below for the full set of rights and how to exercise them.
Data exchanged with Apple and RevenueCat is sent over encrypted (HTTPS) connections. Because Dreamscape has no accounts and stores its settings only on your own device — protected by your device's own security — there is no central database of users for us to safeguard or for anyone to breach. No method of transmission or storage is ever 100% secure, but we've designed the app to keep the data footprint as small as possible.
Dreamscape is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13 (or under 16 where required by local law, such as parts of the EU/EEA). Because the app has no accounts and collects no personal information, it gathers nothing that would identify a child. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, please contact us and we'll address it.
Depending on where you live — including under the EU/UK GDPR and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA) — you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict the processing of your personal data, to data portability, and not to be discriminated against for exercising them.
In practice, Dreamscape holds no personal information about you that we can look up, because we have no accounts and your settings never leave your device. To exercise your rights over those local settings, you can clear them at any time by deleting the app.
The only personal data associated with you sits with our providers, tied to an anonymous identifier:
EEA/UK users have the right to lodge a complaint with their local data protection or supervisory authority.
California (CCPA/CPRA) users: we do not sell or share your personal information, and we have not done so in the preceding 12 months.
We won't discriminate against you for exercising any of these rights.
Our providers may process and store data on servers located outside your country, including in the United States. Where data is transferred from the European Economic Area, the UK, or other regions, those transfers are protected by appropriate safeguards such as the Standard Contractual Clauses. See RevenueCat's and Apple's privacy policies, linked above, for details on their transfer practices.
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we'll revise the "Last updated" date above and post the new version at https://dreamscapeprivacy.netlify.app/. For material changes to how data is handled, we'll make reasonable efforts to highlight them in the app or at the policy URL before they take effect.
